The new 2009 Toyota Corolla will arrive in the US car market in a more aggressive new form. The current Toyota Corolla may still be one of the bestselling cars in the US car industry but Toyota Motor Corporation promises to give more powerful design and car parts like catalytic converter at par, if not comparable to a Renault Catalytic Converter. The new Corolla is set to arrive in June 2008.
The latest car will be taking its cover off at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this coming November. The Japanese car maker gave the new Corolla an edgier design to make your driving more exciting. But the best thing about this car is its new powertrain as Toyota promises to give the 2009 Corolla the engine it needs to give you that total driving performance. If you're a fan of the Scion xD, you'd be happy to know that the new Corolla will be having it's cousin's 1.8L engine under its hood.
The car will be running on a powerful 128 horsepower on a huge 125 pound feet of torque compared to its 126 horsepower and 122 pound feet of torque on the current Corolla model. Toyota also offers the 2.4L engine capable of producing 158 horsepower which is also planned for a possible V6. However, the huge upgrade is still to be decided.
The Toyota Corolla has been alive in the US car market since 1966, and it became the best selling sedan car in 1997. Toyota noted a huge sale of 30 million Toyota Corolla cars this year.
The move to renew its design and specification was also brought up by the existence of its fellow Japanese cars like Honda Civic and Mazda 3 which also notes good sales on the US car market. The car is going to be available in showrooms this coming 2008 but will be available as a 2009 Toyota Corolla version.
Toyota also revealed that the 2.4L option for the next-generation Corolla is coming from Camry which is also mated to a 5-speed automatic standard. The upcoming models of Toyota namely Blade and Matrix will also be getting the same engine.
The Japanese automaker also revealed that the 2009 Corolla will be sharing the look from of its sibling, UK's Toyota Auris.
