Fit Is Essential For The Projecting The Perfect Power Image With A Plus Size Business Suit

Spead the word...

When it comes to projecting a powerful image, nothing demands respect like a perfectly tailored suit. When you're searching for plus size business suits, one thing you'll find is it's even more difficult to find a plus size business suit that fits perfectly.

One thing that men take for granted when they buy a suit is the availability of a tailor to make alterations. Men have NEVER expected their business attire to fit them "off the rack". They've always used tailors to shorten the sleeves and the pants and to tuck in or let out the jacket and pants as needed.

However, somehow when women began shopping for plus size business suits, the store's tailors don't suddenly appear. As a matter of fact, if you're not shopping for your plus size business suit in a department store with a good men's department, you may find you'll have to take your power suit out of the store to find the perfect fit.

Don't despair. Information is your friend. For some women, just realizing that they have the option of taking a jacket in at the waist is enough to give them the confidence to buy that otherwise perfect plus size business suit.

The rules when it comes to alterations are simple: taking in is much, much easier than letting out. So if the waist band on that perfect skirt is too tight, buy the next size larger and have the extra taken out from around the hips (if that indeed is necessary). The same is true when purchasing a jacket. It's easier (a.k.a. better) to take in the shoulders than to try to add room through the bust or the waist.

If you aren't at a department store, be sure to find your tailor BEFORE you make a purchase. Make friends with the valuable professional. Unless you're an expert seamstress, DO NOT attempt to make essential alterations yourself.

Remember, business suits from the top designers will always run larger than clothing offered by the discount chains. Buying a plus size business suit that's too tight or doesn't fit properly is counter productive.

Your wardrobe is an investment in your career. Projecting a powerful image is essential and can only be done with a plus size business suit that fits you well. Sure, it's easier to pick something "off the rack" but once you've worn a perfectly tailored suit into a business meeting you'll never settle for "off the rack" again!
