The new owner Manchester City Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim is believed to be ten times richer than Russian Owner Roman Ambramovic. So in theory Manchester City could go out and buy anybody they wished. There have been rumours of them wanting Fernando Torres of Liverpool and also Arsenals midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The biggest player that they want to pursue is Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo. With City prepared to bid 135million pounds for the player in the January transfer window.
"Ronaldo has said he wants to play for the biggest club in the world, so we will see in January if he is serious," Al-Fahim said in The Guardian.
"Real Madrid were estimating his value at 0million (90m pounds) but for a player like that, to actually get him, will cost a lot more; I would think 0million (135m pounds). But why not? We are going to be the biggest club in the world, bigger than both Real Madrid and Manchester United."
So it looks like Dr Al-Fahim is prepared to put his money where his mouth is and spend some of his fortune on making City the new Chelsea. Roman Abrahimovic is next richest owner after Dr Al-Fahim in the Premier League, yet even his wealth is dwarfed in comparison to the Abu Dhabi United Group owner. Manchester City will be able to compete with the so called 'Big Four' with this new investment and the new owner is hoping to make City one of the biggest clubs in the world. There will be a situation that has rarely be seen in recent years, also with City being more heavily financially backed than their city rivals United.
